Nepal Telecommunications Authority has registered a petition at the Supreme Court on Tuesday to annul its interim order issued on December 25 allowing the Chaudhary Group-owned CG Communication Pvt Ltd to operate its mobile service.

Acting chief of the authority Purushottam Khanal and employee Rachita Acharya registered the petition at the apex court, claiming that the interim order was issued without legal and factual bases. The telecom regulatory body

has argued that the order was issued without giving it an opportunity to clarify why it refused to allow the CG communications to operate its service.

The petition has also claimed that the interim order was issued on the basis of fake details both against the principle of natural justice and the precedent.

On Dec 25, the single bench of Justice Deepak Raj Joshee had issued the interim order, allowing CG Communication to operate its mobile service. The company was not permitted by the authority to operate the service for the lack of necessary infrastructure.

The Cabinet meeting headed by Nepal Communist Party Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal had decided to allow CG Telecom to run mobile service on May 29, 2017. However the authority denied it the operation permit after it failed to maintain necessary standards.
