Police arrested a person with over 10 kilogram of illegal gold from Balaju being smuggled into Kathmandu from Kerung on Saturday.
The Metropolitan Police Range Balaju arrested Fulsingh Tamang with the gold this evening. Police said Tamang, of Sindhupalchowk, was smuggling the gold by hiding it inside the exhaust pipe of a motorcycle.
Metropolitan Police Range chief SSP Rabindra Dhanuk confirmed the arrest. "We are investigating the case," he said.
Sources said the gold was being smuggled when the country's security bodies was focused on federal and provincial elections.
