Nagarkoti, Tamang share lead after second round

Nepal No 1 pro Bhuwan Nagarkoti and overnight leader amateur Subash Tamang are jointly on top after the second day of the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship at the Gokarna Golf Club in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Nagarkoti played a card of eight-under 64 for a second day total of 12-under 132. The 13th South Asian Games (SAG) double gold medalist Tamang carded four-under 68.
Teenage amateur Sadbhav Acharya and Ramesh Adhikari are tied for third with a total score of seven-under 137. Acharya scored three-under 69 and Adhikari carded five-under 67. Rabi Khadka and Sukra Bahadur Rai are tied in fifth place overall but third among pros at six-under 138. Khadka carded one-under 71 and Sukra played one-over 73.
Dinesh Prajapati, who played one-over 73, is seventh overall with the total score of three-under 141. Kamal Tamang played even-par 72 for a total score of two-under 142 to be at eighth place. Rame Magar is in ninth place at one-under 143 after a card of three-under 69.
Jayaram Shrestha and Dhana Bahadur Thapa are joint 10th at even-par 144. Shrestha scored one-under 71 and Thapa one-over 73.
Bhuwan Kumar Rokka and Amateur Tashi Tshiring are joint 12th at one-over 145. Niraj Tamang and Sanjay Lama are tied for 14th place at two-over 146.
Nagarkoti played a bogey-free round with birdies on the third, fifth, sixth, seventh, ninth for five-under 31 on the front nine and saved a shot each on 11th, 12th and 15th holes for three-under 33 at the back nine.
Amateur Tamang birdied on the third, fourth and seventh hole against a bogey on the sixth for two-under 34 on the first half. At the latter half, he saved a shot each on the 11th and 14th holes for two-under 34.
Adhikari on his bogey-free round carded birdies on first, fifth, 12th, 16th and 18th holes to score two-under 34 and three-under 33 at either halves.
Amateur Acharya played two-under 34 on the front nine with birdies on first, third and fourth against a bogey on the second hole. On the back nine, he carded birdies on 10th and 17th holes against a bogey on the 16th hole.
The cut was applied at nine-over 153 with 21 professionals and six amateurs surviving the elimination at mid-way of the tournament. Others who made the cut were amateurs Wanghchen Dhondup (147), Vijay Shrestha Einhaus (151) and Mahendra Phagim (150).
Five pros Krishna Man Rajbahak, Bal Bhadra Rai, Rajendra Thapa Magar and Shivaram Poudel are at 151. Surya Prasad Sharma is at 152, and Sanjok Moktan and Sachin Bhattarai are at 153 each.
A total of 32 professional golfers and 12 amateurs are taking part in the seventh tournament under Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-2022. The event carries a cash purse of Rs 775,000. The winner and the runner up will get Rs135,000 and Rs88,000. Other pros in the top 21 places will also get a share in the cash prize.
