Counting begins for Congress general secretaries

Vote counting for two general secretary posts of the Nepali Congress began on Thursday morning.
Jagannath Shrestha, a member of the party election committee, said counting has begun and results are likely by evening.
Gagan Thapa, 46, and Minendra Rijal, 64, are contesting from the camp led by Shekhar Koirala who lost party president post to Sher Bahadur Deuba in a runoff.
Similarly, Pradip Poudel, 44, and Prakash Sharan Mahat, 62, are contesting from the Deuba camp.
Bishwo Prakash Sharma, 50, filed his nomination from the Prakash Man Singh camp.
Rajaram Karki is contesting from the Bimalendra Nidhi camp.
A total of 4,379 votes were cast during the voting on Monday.
Late on Wednesday night, Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung were declared party vice presidents.
Khadka represents the Deuba camp, while Gurung is from the Koirala group.
Gurung defeated Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, a contestant from the Deuba, by just two votes.
The results of the party President and Vice President are already out. Deuba has been re-elected as party President while former General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka and central working committee member Dhanraj Gurung have elected as Vice President.
