A Cabinet meeting on Sunday recommended Om Prakash Aryal, the Home Minister, for the vacant seat in the National Assembly of Nepal.
One seat in the upper house, to be nominated by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, had remained vacant.
Aryal, who also serves as the government spokesperson, said the Cabinet decided to recommend his name for nomination during its meeting on Sunday.
The seat—one of the three reserved for presidential nomination on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers in the 59-member National Assembly—had remained vacant after the six-year term of Bamdev Gautam expired recently.
