The Nepali Army has pledged to provide a safe and secure environment for the upcoming elections through close coordination with Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal and the election authorities under the existing laws.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the national defence force noted that all election security arrangements are being implemented in accordance with the Act Relating to the Election of Members of the House of Representatives and the Integrated Security Plan-2025.
“As in previous elections, an integrated security team comprising personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, election officers, designated representatives of political parties and the Nepali Army will be mobilised to transport ballot boxes safely to designated counting centres after the completion of voting,” the Directorate said.
The army stated that established security protocols will be strictly followed during the transportation process to maintain transparency and security.
“It has been mobilised in every parliamentary election to provide security at the ballot printing site, transport ballots from Kathmandu to election offices in all districts of the country and provide security of the ballots during and after the election since the House of Representatives elections held in 1991,” the press release said, recalling the past practices.
The army reiterated its readiness to coordinate and collaborate with all relevant agencies to ensure that the electoral process is conducted in a peaceful, secure and orderly manner.
