The inquiry commission investigating the incidents of September 8 and 9 has imposed a foreign travel ban on former Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung.
In its meeting on Thursday, the commission decided that former Inspector General of Police Khapung must remain available for questioning at any time in connection with the investigation into the September 8–9 incidents.
The commission has directed the concerned authorities to immediately restrict his foreign travel and not to allow him to leave the Kathmandu Valley without prior approval, said the commission’s spokesperson Bigyan Raj Sharma in a statement.
The commission took the decision on the same day Khapung was succeeded by new Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki.
The inquiry commission has enforced a similar ban to then prime minister KP Sharma Oli, the erstwhile home minister Ramesh Lekhak, among other officials who were allegedly involved directly in suppressing the Gen Z protests in September.
The commission has also urged all concerned parties to submit details of losses or damages, if not already provided, to its email address [email protected] or to its office at Singha Durbar.
