Government declares April 6 as public holiday
The Cabinet has approved presenting the government’s annual report to the President.

The government declared April 6 a public holiday on the occasion of Ramnavami.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting on Monday, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, who is also the government’s spokesperson, while making public the decisions on Wednesday.
The meeting also decided to present the government’s fiscal year 2023-2024 annual report to the President, in line with Article 53 of the Constitution of Nepal and Section 41 of the Good Governance (Management and Operation) Act.
The Article states that “The Government of Nepal shall submit an annual report containing the steps taken and achievements made in the implementation of the directive principles, policies and obligations of the State set forth in this Part to the President, and the President shall cause such report to be laid through the Prime Minister before the Federal Parliament.”
Additionally, the meeting approved the formation of a negotiation team led by a joint secretary of the Ministry of Finance to discuss receiving grants for the school sector reform programme through the World Bank.
The meeting also appointed Naresh Raj Aryal as a member of the Debt Recovery Tribunal and Dinesh Prasad Bhatta as the chief executive of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
