Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, who is currently on a five-day official visit to India, met with her Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar, in New Delhi on Monday afternoon.
After the meeting, Minister Rana expressed her belief that the visit would further strengthen the centuries-old bond between Nepal and India.
“We discussed bilateral interests, various aspects of Nepal-India relations and the exchange of mutual cooperation,” Rana wrote on social media ‘X’.
This is her first foreign visit after she assumed office on July 15.
This marks the first high-level visit from Nepal to India since the formation of the government led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Rana is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Modi later in the evening today, according to the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.
She is expected to hand over Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s invitation to the Indian prime minister to visit Nepal, according to officials privy to the development.
Rana on Sunday embarked on her trip at Jaishankar’s invitation.
During her stay in the Indian capital, she will also meet senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, among others.
