Shakya sworn in as National Assembly member
Says she will strive to elevate dignity of Upper House.

Anjan Shakya was sworn in as a National Assembly member on Sunday.
National Assembly chair Narayan Prasad Dahal administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shakya, who was nominated by President Ramchandra Paudel.
On April 18, President Paudel nominated Shakya to the Upper House on the government’s recommendation.
In a conversation with journalists following the oath-taking ceremony, Shakya stressed her commitment to enhancing the dignity of the National Assembly.
“I am dedicated to serving my country and its people with honesty and loyalty,” she said. “I am determined to fulfil my duty to the best of my ability and I will strive to elevate the dignity of the National Assembly in every way possible.”
Shakya, who is close to the CPN-UML, is a former ambassador to Israel and a former National Planning Commission member.
