Manoj Basnet, a senior executive of Kantipur Media Group, on Monday received the UNESCO Youth Peace Ambassador Award.

The award was given to Basnet for his contribution to youth and peace through media at a special event of the 18th Youth Peace Ambassador Training Workshop in Los Angeles, USA.

Since 2011, the award has been handed to individuals from various fields to honour their contribution to youth and peace. So far, people from 65 different countries have been given the award.

“He was handed the award amongst hundreds of other contenders from all over the world for his contribution,” said Rimesh Khanal, president of the Youth UNESCO Club USA.

Basnet, who is currently associated with the Kantipur Daily as the head of circulation, press and regional office, has been active in the field for over 17 years.
