August flood death toll rises to 1386, with 5130 still missing

The bodies of 1,386 people who died in the Bhotekoshi floods have been recovered, according to the latest data released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
As of 6 pm on Saturday, authorities had recovered 185 bodies in Rasuwa, 199 in Nuwakot, 70 in Dhading, 77 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 364 in Chitwan, 229 in Nawalparasi East and 222 in Nawalparasi West. Two other people died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.
Only 104 of the recovered bodies have so far been identified and handed over to their families.
According to the authority, 5,130 people remain unaccounted for following the floods.
A total of 13,728 people have been rescued so far, while 339 people are currently receiving treatment at 19 hospitals.
Meanwhile, 3,761 people are taking shelter in 37 holding centres. Of them, 839 are in Rasuwa, 2,587 in Nuwakot and 335 in Dhading.
