The Nepal Oil Corporation on Thursday urged customers not to use cooking gas cylinders weighing over the standard 14.2 kg.
In a statement, the state-owned oil monopoly said the cylinders weighing over the set weight are illegal and directed the gas bottlers to immediately stop the sale and distribution of such cylinders.
The corporation said it had rejected permission sought by some gas industries to sell and distribute gas in larger-capacity cylinders.
The corporation said it is concerned over reports that some industries are refilling gas in cylinders with 50 kg and 450 kg capacity.
NOC warned of taking action against anyone found involved in selling cooking gas cylinders weighing more than the standard weight, as per the LP Gas Regulations.
