Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday said he is excited by the response he got from the Indian side with regard to resolving the border disputes between the two countries.
Talking to journalists upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport after completing the four-day India trip, the prime minister said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed that all pending issues including the border disputes will be resolved as per the spirit of the cordial atmosphere created by the visit.
“I am thrilled by the positive response from the Indian prime minister on the border issue,” said Dahal. He claimed that it was after a long time that an Indian prime minister was giving such a positive response with regard to resolving Nepal-India border disputes.
Prime Minister Dahal said he requested the Indian prime minister to resolve the border issue through existing diplomatic mechanisms.
The prime minister further said his India trip contributed to strengthening the multifaceted and close relations between Nepal and India on the basis of equality and mutual benefits.
“The first foreign visit following the general election was different from the past ones. The visit was fruitful and has set a clear vision for the future,” said Dahal.
The prime minister left for a trip to the southern neighbour on Wednesday, his first official foreign visit after he assumed office in December last year.
During his India trip, Prime Minister Dahal held bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, called on Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Nepal and India also signed seven different agreements in bilateral cooperation following delegation-level talks.
