Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire on Sunday directed political parties to submit the names of lawmakers for two joint House committees including the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
During a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, the Speaker instructed the whips and other leaders of the parties to recommend the names of lawmakers to make them members of the committees within three days.
The Speaker said the delay in the formation of the hearing committee and committee for monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the directive principles, policies and obligations of the state has hindered works including the appointment of the chief justice.
Parties have already submitted names of National Assembly members for the committees but are yet to finalise members from the lower house.
Both the committees have 15 members including three from the upper house and 12 from the House of Representatives.
The House of Representatives on April 28 formed 10 thematic committees, five months after the first sitting of the lower House.
The Speaker also informed the advisory committee members that an electronic attendance system will be adopted for lawmakers from today’s meeting of the House, adding the attendance will be made public through the Parliament’s website as well.
