Russia shows readiness to supply chemical fertilisers, grain to Nepal

The Russian government has shown readiness to provide chemical fertilisers among other things to Nepal at a time when the country has been reeling under fertiliser shortage.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, during a meeting with Chairman of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, who is on an official visit to Russia, informed that Russia is ready to provide chemical fertilisers and wheat to Nepal.
Chernyshenko, during the meeting, said that if Nepal agrees, Russia is ready to provide fertilisers and wheat through a government-to-government mechanism.
The Russian deputy prime minister has urged Nepal to take a decision from the Council of Ministers and take the process forward, reads a press statement issued by the office of the National Assembly chairman.
Russian New Agency, Tass, quoting the office of the Deputy Prime Minister, reported that Chernyshenko also discussed the opportunity of supplying helicopters and motor vehicles to Nepal during the working meeting with Timilsina.
“Dmitry Chernyshenko and Ganesh Prasad Timilsina also discussed the opportunity of delivering grain, chemical fertilisers, Russian helicopters and motor vehicles to Nepal, and cooperation in organising a chess tournament,” the report stated, quoting the Russian DPM’s office.
As per the report, matters of resuming the direct air service between Russia and Nepal, increasing quotas for Nepalese students for education in Russia and cooperation in infrastructure projects on the construction of a subway, railways, motorways, and a hydropower plant were also discussed at the meeting.
