Flights of Nepal Airlines disrupted as flight attendants resort to protest

Flights of the Nepal Airlines Corporation have been disrupted due to protests by flight attendants over the non-renewal of the service contract of two cabin crew members.
Two aircraft of the national flag carrier have been forced to stop in Malaysia and Dubai as the 10-hour duty period of the crew exceeded.
Hundreds of passengers travelling in different international sectors have been hit hard since Wednesday following protests by the Cabin Crew Association of Nepal Airlines.
As most of the 157 cabin crew members have been protesting at the corporation headquarters since Wednesday, the management sent four of the 12 cabin crew who returned from Delhi and Bangalore to Dubai and eight to Malaysia on Wednesday.
The wide-body aircraft is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu from Malaysia at 8pm on Thursday and the narrow-body in Dubai at 9 pm.
According to, Premnath Thakur, the General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, the corporation’s narrow-body, which was slated to fly to Dubai at 11:30pm on Wednesday, took off from Kathmandu at 2:45am on Thursday, while the flight to the Malaysian capital scheduled for 10am took place from Kathmandu at 2pm.
Meanwhile, the association issued a statement on Thursday alleging that the corporation's management of discriminating in contract renewal and the violating international standards in their service-related work.
Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out during talks at the corporation’s headquarters in Sundhara.
