US envoy Thompson meets Prime Minister Deuba to congratulate on successful holding of recent elections
Deuba, during the meeting, thanked the US for its support in Nepal’s democratic transition, democracy, human rights and development endeavors.Post Report
US Ambassador Dean Thompson met Prime Minister Deuba on Wednesday evening.
This is the first meeting between Deuba and Thompson since he arrived in Nepal on October 13 to take up his new assignment.
Arun Subedi, Foreign Relations Adviser to the prime minister, said that Thompson congratulated Deuba for holding successful elections to the federal and provincial parliaments.
During the meeting the US envoy said that the United States hopes that the recent elections would strengthen the democratic process in Nepal, according to Subedi.
In response, Deuba thanked the US for its support in Nepal’s democratic transition, democracy, human rights and development endeavors, Subedi said, adding that the prime minister expressed hope that the US will continue to support Nepal in the coming days in various sectors of Nepal.
