At Friday’s Parliament meeting, the opposition lawmakers demanded the government to take action against Prasai after Health Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel informed the House about the agreement signed between the government and Dr Govinda KC on Thursday night.
In a video widely circulated in social media sites, Prasai had suggested that young Nepali women studying medicine in Bangladesh were forced to sleep with their professors to get medical degrees.
“What kind of legal action will this government take against Prasai for his objectionable remarks against Nepali female students studying in Bangladesh?” opposition MP Pushpa Bhusal questioned the House.
Another NC lawmaker Dila Sangraula said that Prasai’s remarks had offended all women in the country and demanded the government to bring him to justice.
MP Laxmi Pariyar objected that the government was leaving Prasai off the hook when a minister had to resign for making the same remarks. (PR)
