Expressing discontent over the delay in Parliament meeting, the opposition Nepali Congress has said the party would step up its ongoing protests against the government.
“The Nepali Congress has taken the ongoing delay in Parliament meeting seriously. The House has failed to convene the meeting for the past eight days. The situation has become complicated since the government came up with the Medical Education Bill. The Oli government has made changes to some of the major provisions of the ordinance issued by the NC-led government in a clear sign that it is gradually heading towards autocracy,” NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma said in a statement.
“NC condemns the government’s use of force to suppress the protests in Jumla. Police lathi-charged, shooting of tear gas cells on the demonstrators inside the hospital”
