Constitutional Council recommends Man Bahadur Karki as chief election commissioner

The Constitutional Council has recommended Man Bahadur Karki for appointment as the Chief Election Commissioner.
A meeting of the Council at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Friday decided to nominate Karki to head the Election Commission.
The Council also recommended Rajeev Subba to fill a vacant position of Election Commissioner and Guru Prasad Wagle of Okhaldhunga for another commissioner’s post that will fall vacant on July 7, according to Ruby Kumari Karna, a Council member and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Subba is a former Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, while Wagle is a retired government attorney.
Under the Constitution, the Constitutional Council recommends qualified candidates for appointment to leadership and member positions in constitutional bodies, including the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners.
