Passengers to get live view of baggage handling at Kathmandu airport
Screens in the arrival hall will show luggage being unloaded from aircraft, giving passengers a better idea of when their bags will reach the baggage carousel.Post Report
Passengers arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport will now be able to watch their luggage being unloaded from aircraft through a live video feed displayed in the airport’s arrival hall.
The system will allow international passengers to see the baggage unloading process as it happens, before their luggage reaches the baggage carousel.
Previously, passengers had no way of knowing how long it would take for luggage unloaded from an aircraft to arrive at the baggage belt. Many were left waiting without information about the progress of baggage handling.
Under the new arrangement, screens in the baggage claim area will display live footage of the baggage unloading zone. This will allow passengers to see how the process is progressing and get a better estimate of how long they may have to wait for their luggage.
The system has been introduced as part of efforts to make airport services more technology-friendly and transparent. Improving passenger services, baggage handling and overall airport operations has increasingly become a priority.
The live feed is expected to make the baggage collection process less uncertain for passengers while improving transparency in the airport’s service delivery.
