Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Shashanka Koirala has said factionalism has left the party ruined.
Addressing a programme organised in Kawasoti of Nawalparasi district on Tuesday, leader Koirala said, “Factionalism has taken a heavy toll on the party. It is so extensive that the party has gone haywire.”
Claiming the responsibility has rested on his shoulder to make the party strong, Koirala said he had already started taking initiatives to make the party strong by wiping out factionalism.
He claimed the NC will get an opportunity to lead the country in the next five years if the party leadership becomes serious on time.
At the programme, the NC leader further claimed the country took a giant leap after his party got the chance to steer the country since 1991. When the NC led the government in 1991, only 8,000 km roads were operational in the country, and now 81,000 km roads are in operation, he said.
Leader Koirala blamed the lack of publicity for the party’s lagging behind.
Moreover, he said the NC will play the role of a responsible opposition and will be working to form a strong organisation.
