CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has remarked that the national sovereignty is at stake due to the current government’s tendency to sign any kind of agreement in order to attain power and prolong its tenure.
The CPN-UML leader further said that the country couldn’t make progress in terms of development because the government is caught up in the game to prolong its stay in authority at a time when the country needs to focus on economic prosperity and constitution implementation. Oli said so while addressing an assembly at Gaindakot of Nawalparasi district on Wednesday.
“As a vehicle needs a skillful driver to drive it, similarly a country needs an adept leader to steer it,” said Oli, a former prime minister. “The country has been a hostage of indecision as its driver is only busy in adding ministers to Cabinet and kneeling down before foreigners.”
The opposition leader, who mostly criticised the government and the judiciary during his speech, said the judiciary colluded with the government and did injustice to Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s mayoral candidate Devi Gyawali and Nepali Police officer Nawaraj Silwal.
Saying that the government and judiciary has not been able to give a sense of democracy in country, Oli said his party will always stand to defend democracy.
