He had inducted four more ministers on Monday, taking the number of members in his Cabinet to 54.
“Despite the size, many are still vying for ministerial berths. The Cabinet may be expanded further if required,” Deuba told reporters in Biratnagar on Tuesday. Deuba, who is also the Nepali Congress (NC) president, reached here along with other senior leaders to attend election rallies in Province 2.
Confronted with questions that the Cabinet expansion violated the election code of conduct, PM Deuba maintained that the government’s decision would not be revoked arguing that the EC did not ask to withdraw the decision.
The EC had expressed its dissatisfaction over the expansion, saying it was against the election code of conduct.
