Dr KC likely to end his fast this evening
Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging indefinite hunger strike for the past 23 days, is likely to end his hunger strike for now in view of the ongoing crisis due to floods and landslides in different parts of the nation.

Dr KC began his 11th fast-unto-death on July 24 demanding reforms in medical education sector including implementation of the recommendations made by a team of experts under Kedar Bhakta Mathema, endorsement of the Health Profession Education (HPE) Bill, end of irregularities in medical sector, improve the conditions of hospitals under TU Institute of Medicine.
“Dr KC is going to end his fast considering the flooding in Tarai region,” said Anil KC, a relative of Dr KC, “He [Dr KC] was moved by the picture of a child being released into the river after he died due to lack of treatment. These sad situations prompted him to end his fast.”
A team of ICU doctors also attended Dr KC on Tuesday after his health deteriorated further with the fasting doctor falling unconscious twice today. Doctors attending on Dr KC said they increased the saline administration today after his blood pressure lowered.
Despite the deteriorating health condition of Dr KC, political parties remained at loggerheads over the Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences (MMIHS) until this afternoon.
Earlier, Dr KC strongly warned against granting affiliations to new medical colleges and said he will not end his hunger strike until the HPE Bill is endorsed in the spirit of recommendations of Mathema commision.
