SMS services have been made free in flood-affected areas, according to Mahendra Bahadur Gurung, Secretary at Ministry of Information and Communication.
According to secretary Gurung, a provision to make SMS services free of cost by all telecom service providers has come into effect in view of current crisis of floods and landslides across the country.
अहिलेको बिपदलाई ध्यानमा राखी काठमाण्डु उपत्यका बाहेकका जिल्लाहरुमा सबै सेवा प्रदायकबाट sms सेवा केहि दिनका लागि निशुल्क गर्ने ब्यबस्था ।

However, the free SMS service will be effective only outside Kathmandu, read a tweet posted by Gurung.
