The ruling coaliation—Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre)—and agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N) have agreed to present the constitution amendment proposal for a floor test in the parliament.

After a meeting held between his party and the government on Friday at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, RJP-N leader Sharat Singh Bhandari said that both parties have agreed to move ahead the constitution amendment process by the end of Nepali month Shrawan (mid-August).

“Our main demand is constitution amendment and we have come to an agreement to conclude the matter within few days,” said leader Bhandari.

Leader Bhandari further said that they agreed to put the amendment proposal to vote in view of it getting passed by a majority.

With this agreement, it is highly likely that the RJP-N, that had boycotted the earlier two phases of local level elections, will take part in the third phase of local polls scheduled for September 18.
