1 killed, 1 missing in Bajhang flood, landslide
A two-year-old child died after he was swept away by a flooded river in Bajhang district on Friday.A two-year-old child died after he was swept away by a flooded river in Bajhang district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Sher Bahadur Bohara of Surma Rural Municipality-4. He was swept away by the flooded Bauligad River, District Police Office, Bajhang, informed.
Bohara’s body has been located at Patakhana of Baril, however, it is difficult to retrieve his body due to excessive water in the river, informed District Police Office DSP Gagan Singh Bhandari.
Likewise, a man identified as 34-year-old Deepak Khati of Channa Village Council-1 has been missing in a landslide.
Khati was on his way back home after attending a meeting when the misfortune took place at Jhuldhunga. He is a social worker at community-based development programme under District Coordination Committee.
It is learnt that a boulder from the same landslide hit and injured one fisherman Chandra Kathayat who was catching fish in Jadarigad River. He is receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Bajhang.
Meanwhile, police are searching for Khati.
District Police Office informed that they are unknown whether Khati is buried beneath the landmass or he was swept away by the river.
