According to Narayangadh-Muglin road section upgradation project engineer Shiva Khanal, 10 major landslides took place along the road section.

The truck drivers and conductors were able to run to safety before the landslide buried the vehicle, informed Khanal. He further said that efforts to clear the landslide debris have hit a snag following incessant rain.

Four loaders and one JCB excavator has been brought to remove the debris, said engineer Khanal adding that they are working to clear the landslide rubble by today afternoon.

Earlier, yesterday night, a Scorpio jeep, Ba 15 Cha 9381 and a passenger bus, Na 6 Kha 7121, en route to Ilam from Kathmandu, were buried by a landslide that occurred at Kalikhola, Ichakamana-6, about 2 km from Muglin, along the road section.

The road section has been obstructed following multiple landslides since 7pm yesterday night.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had inspected the work progress of the Narayangadh-Muglin road section upgradation project yesterday afternoon and directed the concerned authorities to expedite the construction process in war footing saying that the road section is ‘the lifeline of the nation.’
