Bardiya police on Thursday arrested five Indian nationals for smuggling chicks into the Nepali border.
DSP Yubaraj Khadka informed police arrested Mulle Manihaar, Pappu Yadav, Salim Khan, Nasim Khan and Rahul Khan at Danfe in Badaiyataal rural municipality of the district for illegally bringing in 2,600 chicks on cycles. All the arrestee are from Isharapur in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh.
They have been detained for further investigation while the chicks have been sent to district animal quarantine office.
Meanwhile, police also seized Rs 113,000 worth of cosmetic goods from Mohammadpur in Gulariya municipality. Those goods were illegally brought from India, police said.
