RPP candidate succumbs to bullet injuries

Four persons sustained injuries as the security personnel opened fire after the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal activists attacked on the Election Commission officials and seized a ballot box in Naraharinath Village Council on Sunday evening. The deceased has been identified as Dhanrup Batala, 45, the RPP ward chairman candidate for Naraharinath-6. Two other RPP supporters—Dan Bahadur Batala and Kul Bahadur Batala—and Chand’s activist Byausi Bishwokarma sustained bullet injuries in the incident.
Chief District Officer Giridhari Subedi said the security personnel opened fire as the Chand’s supporters attacked on the election employees and seized the ballot box. The assailants snatched the ballot box of Serapata and set it on fire.
The incident happened as the victims and other villagers rushed to a local school following the attack by the Chand’s outfit. According to witnesses, the security personnel opened fire indiscriminately .
The RPP district committee denounced the local authority’s action of killing innocent person. “It was negligence on part of the security personnel. Our party supporters were shot at while they were trying to convince the assailants not to attack the election officials and police,” said Dhan Bahadur Batala, RPP’s vice-chairman candidate.
