The senior orthopaedic surgeon at the TUTH, Dr KC, is planning to stage a hunger strike for the eighth time to press the government for various reforms in the medical education sector. His
previous seven shows of dissent were held on the hospital premises in Maharajgunj. This time, the TUTH administration has told Dr KC to take his demonstration elsewhere.
Officiating Dean at the TUTH, Bimal Kumar Sinha, on Friday requested Dr KC not to hamper the hospital services by staging another protest.
“Dr KC’s hunger strike bears direct impact on educational activities, examinations and hospital’s regular services. Therefore, we urge all concerned parties not to organise any forms of protest at the institution,” said a statement issued by the dean’s office.
The office said that Dr KC would be held responsible should he defy the hospital’s request, resulting in any untoward incidents.
Twenty-four doctors, who have been supporting Dr KC in his struggle, have requested the TUTH administration to allow him stage his hunger strike at the hospital.
