Help has started pouring in for the families of those killed in police firing in Morang during a clash on January 21.

People from all over the country have offered financial assistance and food to the families of the victims after The Kathmandu Post and Kantipur daily published their stories recently.

Kathmandu-based Sai Sewa Samiti on Wednesday held a programme in Rangeli and provided cash and clothes to the bereaved families of Mahadev Rishidev and Shibu Majhi.

Sai Sewa Chairman Dr Sundar Mani Dixit handed over Rs 150,000 to Rishidev’s family and Rs 100,000 to Majhi’s family. The two families also received clothes from Sai Sewa .

Majhi family has been living in a tin-roofed cottage built on a land that is not theirs. The deceased Majhi is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. Similarly, Rishidev’s wife and five sons have been living in a house built on public land.

Dr Dixit said that he was moved after reading the news about the plight of the two families and decided to offer them some assistance.

Dr Dixit also felicitated husband of Draupadi Chaudhary, who was also killed in police firing, in Rangeli.

Besides Sai Sewa, Janjati Kalyan Ashram, Sabita Agrawal Memorial Trust and Satya Sai Sewa Organisation also offered to educate Majhi’s and Rishidev’s children
