A division bench of Justice Kumar Prasad Pokharel and Justice Sarita Sharma convicted Mahadevi Yadav for beheading her three-year-old nephew Nitesh Kumar Yadav in 2012, a court official said on Wednesday. Yadav’s so-called witchcraft guru Chhabilal Raya, who is on the run, was also convicted in absentia. On 19 May 2012, Yadav had beheaded Nitesh in the name of learning witchcraft. It was later discovered that after committing the crime she had thrown away the boy’s head in Bagmati River and buried the body in an altar room that she had created in her house.
