Government declares three-day public holiday for March 5 election

The government has announced a three-day public holiday in view of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.
A Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to grant public holidays on March 4, 5 and 6 to facilitate the electoral process.
Earlier, the Election Commission had recommended that the government declare a public holiday to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.
Following the election, there will be two additional consecutive public holidays.
March 7 falls on Saturday, the weekly public holiday, while March 8 is observed as International Women’s Day, which is also a public holiday.
