Officials said they have been asked to vacate the current office at Wisma Goshen Building in by the building owner after complaints that the people visiting the mission littered the compound, causing inconvenience to other offices.   

Over a thousand Nepali migrant workers visit the embassy on daily basis. The management of the building has put pressure on the Nepali authorities to shift the office at the earliest. The building management has also demanded 128,000 ringgit from the as security and sanitation fees.

The embassy had moved to its present address in May last year from Jalan Ampang, a prime location in Kuala Lumpur, after facing similar situation. The mission is once again preparing to shift its office to Jalan Ampang.

Nepali Ambassador to Malaysia Niranjan Man Singh Basnyat said they are planning to relocate to a building in Bisma Paradise in Jala Ampang area from the first week of April.

“It is a big challenge for the authorities to manage the growing crowd visiting the mission. The visitors are spitting, throwing waste everywhere and mishandling toiletries, causing problems,” Basnyat said.

Malaysia has the largest number of Nepali migrant workers than any other labour destinations. An estimated 800,000 Nepalis are working in Malaysia. Although the government has purchased a land in Putrajaya area to build its embassy building, it has yet to start the construction.
