He took the charge at NSC member secretary Office in Tripureshwor. Poudel, who is a joint secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was appointed to the NSC key post last Friday.
Addressing a programme organised in his honour after assuming the office, he pledged to do his best for the development of sports sector during his tenure.
He stressed the need of carrying out restructuring of NSC. He urged authority concerned to take initiatives to ensure one percent of the total national budget to sports sector.
Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Poudel had sacked five members of the NSC including its member secretary Yubaraj Lama on Friday.
