Nepse edges up marginally after two-day decline

The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index inched up marginally on Monday, snapping a two-day losing streak with a modest gain of 1.53 points.
The benchmark index rose by 0.05 percent to close at 2,695.73 points, reflecting a cautious recovery in the market.
Share prices of 114 companies advanced during the session, while 134 declined and 13 remained unchanged. Despite the slight rise in the index, declining stocks continued to outnumber gainers.
A total of 17.51 million shares were traded through 91,061 transactions, with turnover amounting to Rs8.22 billion. Trading volume declined compared to the previous session, when shares worth Rs9.11 billion were exchanged.
Of the 13 sub-indices, development bank, hotel and tourism, production and processing, non-life insurance, and trading sectors posted modest gains.
The remaining sub-groups closed lower, limiting the overall rise in the benchmark index.
