Nepse slips 9.43 points as turnover declines
Trading volume falls to Rs8.92 billion amid broad-based losses.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell by 9.43 points on Wednesday, closing lower after the benchmark retreated by 0.34 per cent compared to the previous session.
The market reversed Tuesday’s double-digit gain as selling pressure dominated most sectors.
Market breadth remained negative, with share prices of 174 companies declining, while 82 advanced and three remained unchanged.
Out of the 13 sub-indices, only the ‘Others’ sub-group ended in positive territory. All remaining sub-indices closed lower during the session.
A total of 21,641,883 shares were traded through 89,766 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs8.92 billion. This marked a sharp decline from Tuesday’s turnover of Rs11.85 billion, indicating weaker investor participation.
Despite the overall downturn, a handful of stocks posted notable gains. Kalika Power Company rose by 9.84 per cent, Narayani Development Bank by 9.16 per cent, River Falls Power by 5.50 per cent, Bikas Hydropower by 4.98 per cent, and Mandu Hydropower by 4.58 per cent.
