Nepse edges up nearly five points as turnover increases
Share prices of 118 companies rose, while 134 declined and eight remained unchanged.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index climbed by nearly five points on Tuesday, recovering part of the losses recorded in the previous session, alongside an increase in trading turnover.
The benchmark index rose by 4.90 points to close at 2,639.91 points, marking a 0.80 per cent gain from Monday’s close of 2,635.01 points, when the market had slipped by 5.54 points.
Despite the overall rise in the index, market breadth remained mixed. Of the traded companies, share prices of 118 increased, while 134 declined and eight remained unchanged. Although decliners outnumbered gainers, the index managed to end the session higher by close to five points.
A total of 13,624,824 shares were traded through 77,017 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs6.99 billion. This represents an increase compared to Monday’s turnover of Rs6.47 billion, indicating improved market activity.
Of the 13 sub-indices, hydropower, investment, mutual funds, non-life insurance, others and trading groups posted gains, while the remaining subgroups closed lower.
