The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) Index fell by 5.03 points on Wednesday to close at 2,609.03, edging down 0.19 percent from the previous trading day.
Although the market had gained nearly 7 points on Tuesday, that uptick failed to hold as a larger number of companies posted losses. Of the listed firms that traded, 169 declined, 80 advanced and eight remained unchanged.
A total of 8.64 million shares were traded through 91,394 transactions, amounting to a turnover of Rs3.73 billion. This marks a slight drop from Tuesday’s turnover of Rs3.75 billion.
Indices of all 13 subgroups declined except mutual funds and manufacturing & processing, contributing to the day’s overall fall in the benchmark.
