Nepse dips marginally as turnover declines
Benchmark index slips by 0.53 points to close at 2,644.70; market posts third straight day of losses.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) closed slightly lower on Tuesday, extending its losing run to three consecutive trading days. The benchmark index edged down by 0.53 points to settle at 2,644.70.
Nepse had already fallen by 26.51 points on Sunday and 4.28 points on Monday, marking a continued weakening of market sentiment.
On Tuesday, share prices of 125 companies increased, while 119 declined and 13 remained unchanged. Despite more gainers than losers, the index still closed in negative territory.
A total of 10.81 million shares changed hands through 56,909 transactions, amounting to a turnover of Rs4.48 billion—down from Monday’s Rs4.71 billion.
Of the 13 sectoral indices, banking, hotels and tourism, investment, life insurance and microfinance posted losses. The remaining sectors ended with marginal gains, according to Nepse.
