Nepse inches up by one point, turnover declines
Although the number of losing stocks narrowly exceeded gainers, the overall index still managed a slight upward movement.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) saw a marginal improvement on Thursday, edging up by 1.13 points to close at 2,545.73. The benchmark index recorded a modest 0.04 percent rise compared to the previous trading day.
According to Nepse, share prices of 123 companies increased, 124 declined, and eight remained unchanged. Although the number of losing stocks narrowly exceeded gainers, the overall index still managed a slight upward movement.
A total of 7.6 million shares were traded in 50,621 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs3.49 billion—down from Wednesday’s Rs3.84 billion.
Of the 13 trading subgroups, indices of development banks, investment, life insurance, manufacturing and processing, non-life insurance, and others declined, while the remaining subgroups posted marginal gains, Nepse said.
