MTR, the iconic South Indian pure vegetarian restaurant brand, has opened two new outlets in Kathmandu, further expanding its footprint in Nepal. The new branches in Kamalpokhari and Gausala (Pashupatinath) aim to make MTR’s celebrated flavours more accessible to diners across the city. Since entering the Nepali market, MTR has been committed to sharing the rich culinary heritage of South India. The latest outlets will carry forward this tradition, offering a menu of timeless dishes prepared using time-honoured recipes and premium ingredients. According to a statement issued by Le Sherpa Concept, a family of boutique companies, patrons can look forward to favourites such as fluffy idlis, crispy dosas, and hearty bisi bele bath—each crafted to perfection.

“The response to MTR in Kathmandu has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong demand for authentic South Indian cuisine,” the company said. “The new locations in Kamalpokhari and Pashupatinath allow us to reach a wider community and share the unique taste and experience of MTR with even more people.” Founded in 1924 as Mavalli Tiffin Rooms, MTR is renowned for its authentic vegetarian fare and unwavering commitment to quality. Over the decades, it has grown into a global brand while staying true to its traditional roots.
