Turnover rises to Rs10.21 billion despite benchmark retreating to 2,822.46 points.
Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) fell sharply on Monday, losing 27.90 points to close at 2,822.46.
The benchmark index dropped by 0.97 percent compared to the previous trading day, as all but two sector indices—mutual funds and ‘others’—ended in negative territory.
Of the companies traded, share prices of 30 advanced while 220 declined. Trading resumed on Monday following Sunday’s public holiday, with activity showing notable growth in turnover.
A total of 250.92 million shares changed hands in 98,525 transactions, amounting to Rs10.21 billion—up from Thursday’s Rs8.53 billion.
The fall in the benchmark was driven by declines across 11 of the 13 sub-indices, reflecting broad weakness in market sentiment. Only the mutual funds and ‘others’ sub-indices posted marginal gains, tempering the overall decline.
