NEPSE surges by over 75 points as turnover hits record Rs16.59 billion
The index jumped by 2.71 percent on Thursday, with shares of 239 companies gaining in value.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index soared by 75.84 points on Thursday, closing at 2,870.63, a 2.71 percent rise from the previous day. This marks one of the strongest single-day performances in recent months.
According to NEPSE, a total of 239 listed companies saw their share prices increase, while only nine recorded a decline.
Thursday’s trading volume reached a staggering Rs16.59 billion, the highest daily turnover since August 27, 2024. The session witnessed 141,434 individual transactions, with over 38.6 million shares changing hands.
Several companies hit the daily price limit, including Trade Tower, which gained 10 percent and triggered a circuit breaker. Other notable gainers were Shubham Power and Three Star Hydropower, each rising by 9.99 percent, followed by Eastern Hydropower (9.90 percent) and Barahi Hydropower (public issue) with a 9 percent gain.
Meanwhile, share prices of a few mutual funds and debentures declined, including NIBL Stable Fund, NIC Asia Flexi Cap Fund, Reliable Samriddhi Yojana, Muktinath Mutual Fund–1, and KBL Debenture (2089).
