NEPSE edges down despite surge in daily turnover to Rs9.08 billion
Hydropower, life insurance, and mutual fund sub-indices post gains despite overall market dip.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell slightly by 1.07 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,653.68. The marginal dip of 0.04 percent came after two consecutive days of modest gains, continuing a pattern of cautious market movements.
According to NEPSE, 23.4 million shares were traded in 78,013 transactions involving 248 listed companies. The total daily turnover reached Rs9.08 billion—up from Tuesday’s Rs7.65 billion—reflecting a notable increase in trading activity.
Out of the traded stocks, 88 companies saw their share prices increase, while 159 declined. One company’s share price remained unchanged.
Performance across the 13 trading subgroups was mixed. The hydropower, life insurance, manufacturing & processing, mutual fund, and others sub-indices recorded gains. However, the remaining eight subgroups ended in negative territory, contributing to the overall decline in the NEPSE index.
