While the sweltering heat has forced schools to shut indefinitely in Madhyabindu Municipality, tourism entrepreneurs in Nawalparasi are taking a different approach. As temperatures soared to 38 degrees Celsius by 1:50 pm on Wednesday, authorities moved to protect students from the extreme conditions.
But instead of retreating from the heat, local hotels and resorts are leaning into the season, offering attractive summer packages to lure visitors.
Prominent establishments in the region have rolled out deals featuring up to 30 percent discounts, special concessions for student groups, added amenities, and entertainment offers to keep business flowing through the high temperatures.
Unnati Cultural Village in Harkapur, Bagaincha Adventure Resort in Harkapur, and Tharu Community Lodge in Kawasoti have launched attractive packages with special features for their customers.
Unnati Cultural Village, backed by businessman Binod Chaudhary’s investment, has announced a special summer vacation package for the coming month, including a ‘daycation’ and a ‘staycation’.
Daycation is a short vacation that allows someone to escape their routine and relax for a day without staying overnight. A staycation is a holiday spent within a short distance of your home, rather than travelling far away.
According to the hotel management, the summer vacation package aims to promote the local Tharu culture, traditional lifestyle, and sustainable tourism through a fresh and appealing experience.
Located in Harkapur of Nawalparasi East, 15 kilometres west of Narayanghat in Chitwan, Unnati Cultural Village is offering a reasonable daycation package that allows visitors to experience Tharu art, cuisine, handicrafts, and agricultural lifestyle directly.

The package includes a visit to a Tharu village museum, hands-on training to make clay handicrafts, a tour of the Unnati premises, and a delicious meal. It costs Rs1,400 per person, with a discounted price of Rs1,200 for students.
Under the staycation package, guests can stay overnight in traditionally designed lodgings, enjoy authentic food and cultural experiences, participate in tree planting and child-friendly activities, and access the facilities of the Miraya Wellness and Golf Resort.
This resort is located inside the Chaudhary Industrial Park in Dumkaili. Both luxurious hotels are operated under the Chaudhary Group. A Tharu-style room costs Rs5,500 per night for a single guest and Rs9,000 for two guests.
Located 300 metres west of Harkapur Bazaar beside the Mahendra Highway, Unnati Cultural Village is also a cultural retreat centre. Nestled in a beautiful garden, the village claims to offer immersive experiences in Tharu traditions and sustainable living.
The village comprises 12 eco-friendly cottages and combines Tharu art, crafts, indigenous cuisine, and community interaction. Spread across around five bighas (approximately 3.4 hectares), the village offers a unique and refreshing ambience.
Bagaincha Adventure Resort, also located in Harkapur and made entirely of wood, has introduced attractive packages. Situated within a lovely garden, the resort offers a summer bed-and-breakfast deal in a cottage for Rs5,500 for two people.
The resort has also started jungle safari, cultural programmes, and boating safari packages for the next four months.
A two-night, three-day package priced at Rs16,000 per person includes a jungle safari, sunset viewing, ox-cart village tours, Tharu cultural programmes, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The hotel is built on top of a wooden ox cart, so locals often refer to it as the “Ox-Cart Hotel.” According to proprietor Santosh Dhital, the resort serves organic food. It is located in Harkapur, 15 kilometres west of Narayanghat.
Similarly, the Tharu Community Lodge in Kawasoti has introduced new summer packages to attract guests. The lodge is near the Narayani river, about six kilometres south of Kawasoti Bazaar.
Located in a peaceful and scenic area, the lodge claims to offer a homely experience. It provides fish, dried meat (chicha), snails, duck, chicken, organic local produce, and vegetarian options based on guest preferences.
Located within a Tharu village, the lodge offers packages that allow guests to enjoy the local environment. It has announced attractive summer offers.
According to operator Buddhi Sen Tharu, a 30 percent discount applies to the usual rates during summer—until the end of August. The lodge also offers Tharu cultural dances, village walking tours, cycling, jungle safaris, and boat rides.
These renowned hotels in Nawalparasi East are actively competing for guests.
Together, the three hotels can accommodate 280 guests per night.
Additionally, the ILA Hotel and Resort, operated by IME Group in Gaindakot of Nawalparasi East, has also begun operations.
Located on Maulakalika Hill, the hotel features a rooftop swimming pool. It is attractive and well-equipped, and is accessible by the Maulakalika cable car.
From the ILA Hotel, located in the middle of the forest hill, guests can enjoy scenic views of Devghat, Gaindakot, and Chitwan.
