The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 12.04 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,661.64. The drop, amounting to a 0.45 percent decrease, comes after two consecutive days of gains in the capital market.
The market had recorded a marginal rise of 1.03 points on Monday followed by a significant surge of 62.25 points on Tuesday, fuelled by increased investor optimism.
However, Wednesday saw a pullback as sellers outpaced buyers across several sectors.
Out of the companies traded, share prices of 96 rose while 150 declined, indicating a broadly negative trading sentiment. One of the highlights of the session was the surge in share prices of Nepal Micro Insurance Company and Crest Micro Life Insurance Company, both of which hit the upper circuit limit with a 10 percent gain.
Despite the index decline, trading volume remained robust. Investors exchanged 30.7 million shares in 103,319 transactions, resulting in a total turnover of Rs11.65 billion.
In terms of transaction value, Ngadi Group Power, Sanima Mai Hydropower, Universal Power Company, Radhi Bidyut Company, and Api Power Company led the trading charts.
